Yr 5

Welcome to Year 5!

Meet Our Team

  • Teacher: Mrs. Gilleece
  • Teaching Assistants: Mrs. Smith, Miss McCorkell, and Miss Cooke

Year 5 marks a significant transition as we move into Key Stage 2. We’re ready to take on new challenges, explore deeper subjects, and develop lots of new skills!

Check out all the curriculum areas we will be covering:

  • Communication, Language, and Literacy: In Year 5, we dive into captivating stories, explore different writing styles, and enhance our communication skills. Whether it’s reading, writing, or speaking, we’re on an adventure with words.
  • Personal Development and Mutual Understanding: We focus on building strong character, empathy, and understanding. Through discussions, activities, and teamwork, we learn to respect each other and appreciate our unique qualities.
  • Using Mathematics and Numeracy: Numbers, patterns, and problem-solving—Year 5 is where math gets fascinating! We tackle real-world challenges, explore geometry, and sharpen our mental math skills.
  • Physical Education: Get ready to move! From team sports to individual fitness, we embrace an active lifestyle. Sportsmanship, coordination, and healthy habits are part of our game plan.
  • Using ICT (Information and Communication Technology): Computers, coding, and digital creativity—we’re tech-savvy learners. We explore apps, create digital projects, and understand the power of technology.
  • Religious Education: We explore different beliefs, traditions, and values. Respect, tolerance, and open-mindedness guide our discussions about faith and spirituality.
  • The Arts: Music, drama, dance, and visual arts—In Year 5 we let our creativity shine.
  • Thinking Skills and Personal Capabilities: Critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making—these skills are our superpowers. We analyse, evaluate, and explore new ideas.

Stress-Free Learning Zone

Our classroom is a STRESS-FREE ZONE!. We believe that learning flourishes when children feel relaxed and supported. Here, mistakes are opportunities, questions are encouraged, and growth is celebrated.

Shared Education Program

Exciting news! This year we will be taking part in a ‘Shared Education’ program with Broadbridge Primary School. Watch this space for more information in the near future!
